At over 7,000 acres, San Felasco Hammock has one of the few remaining mature forests in Florida. The limestone outcrops and extreme changes in elevation provide ideal conditions for many species of hardwood trees, including several champion trees. The preserve is home to bobcats, feral pigs, white-tailed deer, gray foxes and turkeys.
Manatee springs is flooded. Swimming is not allowed and many of the hiking paths are blocked by high water.
