The weather is little cool, but sunny. Several plants are still in flower, some with seeds.
Birds
- Black-crowned Night Heron 夜鷺 (yè lù) Nycticorax nycticorax - probably the most-common water bird at Bitan
- Little Egret 白鷺 (báilù) Egretta garzetta, several. Other large white egrets, but didn't identify them.
- Gray Heron 蒼鷺 (cāng lù) Ardea cinerea. one on opposite cliff face in vegetation.
- Crested Goshawk 鳳頭鷹 (fèng tóu yīng) Accipiter trivirgatus. see one soaring over mountain.
- Spotted Dove 珠頸斑鳩 (zhū jǐng bānjiū) Streptopelia chinensis. one on wire with next species.
- Rufous Turtle Dove 金背鳩 (jīn bèi jiū) Streptopelia orientalis. one on wire with previous species.
- Taiwan Barbet 五色鳥 (wǔsè niǎo) Megalaima nuchalis. Several on mountainside. A few calling.
- White Wagtail 白鶺鴒 (bái jílíng) Motacilla alba
- Chinese Bulbul 白頭鵯 (báitóu bēi) Pycnonotus sinensis. A few here and there.
- Taiwan Whistling Thrush 台灣紫嘯鶇 (táiwān zǐ xiào dōng) Myophonus insularis. Remember hearing one.
- Red-headed Babbler 山紅頭 (shān hóngtóu) Stachyris ruficeps. Hear one singing. Hear a warbler in the treetops.
- Japanese White-eye 綠繡眼 (lǜ xiù yǎn) Zosterops japonica. One flock passed by.
- Drongo Dicrurus sp. did not take the time to ID it. Not clear from picture if it is the Black or Bronzed one.
- Gray Treepie 樹鵲 (shù què) Dendrocitta formosae. a couple on mountainside.
Butterflies
- Common Bluebottle 青帶鳳蝶 (qīng dài fèng dié) Graphium sarpedon connectens, several other Papilionidae butterflies out.
- Striped Blue Crow 端紫斑蝶 (duān zǐbān dié) Euploea mulciber barsine
- Blue Pansy 孔雀青蛺蝶 (kǒngquè qīng jiá dié) Junonia orithya on grassy bank near fishermen
- Staff Sergeant 單帶蛺蝶 (dān dài jiá dié) Athyma selenophora laeta
- Plains Cupid 蘇鐵小灰蝶 (sūtiě xiǎo huī dié) Chilades pandava peripatria 蘇鐵小灰蝶 (sūtiě xiǎo huī dié)
Moths
- Episteme lectrix sauteri 選彩虎夜蛾 (xuǎn cǎi hǔ yè é)
Mammals
- Red-bellied Tree Squirrel 赤腹松鼠 (chìfù sōngshǔ) Callosciurus erythraeus. see three or four. they probably get fed here, so they come out and check out any tourists.
